The "Tackling Rare Diseases" capital campaign will provide Uplifting Athletes the long term stability and organizational infrastructure needed to reach the goal of 100 chapters by the year 2015. Student-athlete run chapters will be developed at a majority of FBS college football programs, which will allow Uplifting Athletes the ability to ensure their success, and provide the resources necessary to help generate more than $7,000,000 for rare disease research over the next 5 years, and $4,000,000 annually after reaching our 100 chapter goal.
We know that 1 out of 10 Americans will be diagnosed with a rare disease. Too often, little can be done to help since each disease affects fewer than 200,000 Americans. Fortunately, college football players have realized that they are in a position to make a difference. With a constituency of 30 million rare disease patients and college football as our platform, every $1 donated will generate $5 for rare disease research during the life of this campaign.
