Penn State's Shrive Lifts Weights, Spirits

By: Donnie Collins, Times-Tribune

The easy way to start this story is to say Eric Shrive already has made a difference at Penn State.  Of course, you'll respond that he hasn't played a down for the Nittany Lions. You might even point out that, in the grand scheme of a college football player's career, he hasn't even exhausted a single snap of his eligibility yet.

Both fair points.

UNIVERSITY PARK —  Scott Shirley spends much of his time on the road. A Record Day for Penn State Uplifting Athletes' Chapter

A record-breaking day at Penn State's Lift For Life.  The 8th annual event held Friday at Holuba Hall raised more than $98,461.35.  Despite the hote temperatures, more than 3,000 people cheered on the players as the rare disease community.  This year's fundraising total shattered last year's record by close to $15,000.  In 2009, Penn State's Uplifting Athletes chapter raised $83,959.89.  In the 8 years Penn State has held Lift For Life, the chapter has raised more than $500,000 for the Kidney Cancer Association.
