The Boston College chapter of Uplifting Athletes will continue its efforts to raise money and awareness for Ewing’s sarcoma research -- a rare disease that typically affects late-teen or young-adult males. The chapter’s 3rd annual “Lift For Life” event, organized by the BC football team, is set for Friday, July 22nd at 3:30 PM at Alumni Field. The fun-to-watch "Lift For Life" event involves nine competitions, pinning members of the offense and defense against one another.

The chapter chose Ewing's sarcoma in honor of their former teammate Mark Herzlich, who was diagnosed with this rare disease two years ago. Herzlich has since been declared cancer free, returned to the field this past season and hopes to continue his football career in the NFL this upcoming year.

Since 2009, the Boston College chapter of Uplifting Athletes has raised close to $200,000 for Ewing's sarcoma research. Uplifting Athletes works in partnership with the Sarcoma Foundation of America to fund grants for promising research specific to this rare disease.

The July 22nd “Lift For Life” is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5 per student or child and $10 per adult. Parking will be available in the garage adjacent to Alumni Stadium and Gate E will be open for fans to enter the event.

Donations can also be made in advance and credited to your favorite player’s fundraising page. Fans will also have a chance to meet and get autographs from current and former members of the Boston College football team.
