Uplifting Athletes Leadership Conference Set for June 12-13
Seven student-athletes from 5 universities are set to participate in Uplifting Athletes' Leadership Conference at Uplifting Athletes headquarters in Camp Hill, PA the weekend of June 12-13. Ohio State, Penn State, Colgate, Boston College and Maryland will take part in a weekend of activities meant to enforce the Uplifting Athletes mission of raising awareness for the rare disease cause.
"We look at this as a perfect opportunity for a fun and productive weekend," Executive Director Scott Shirley says. "It's a chance for five schools to work as one team. We look forward to brainstorming new ideas to make ensure that we are in a position to make a difference."
A similar conference was held in years past with student-athletes from the Penn State chapter of Uplifting Athletes. But for the first time, this year's conference will include all five chapters. The 2-day conference will include seminars, guest speakers and activities to help the student-athletes come up with game plans to strengthen their university's chapter of Uplifting Athletes. The attendees will learn from industry experts about decision-making practices and problem-solving techniques to enhance their chapter's brand.
Those who will participate: Brett Brackett (PSU), Mike Farrell (PSU), Ryan Lindsey (Boston College), James McCluskey (Boston College), Travis Baltz (Maryland), Kevin Morgan (Colgate), Greg Sullivan (Colgate), and CJ Barnett (Ohio State).
Uplifting Athletes is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to align college football with rare diseases to raise them as a national priority. University chapters are operated by current football student-athletes and raise funds and awareness for a rare disease relevant to their team.
