Dailey Nettles, PhD, is a postdoctoral scholar studying ultra-rare neurodevelopmental disorders at the Medical University of South Carolina in the lab of Stefano Berto, PhD. As an electrophysiologist, she investigates the functional roles of CHAMP1 and IL1RAPL2 genes in human neurodevelopment using cultured neurons and brain organoids from patient-derived iPSCs.
Her goal is to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying these rare disorders and leverage the power of high-throughput screening assays for therapeutic exploration. She earned her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, and her BS in Neuroscience from The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
When Dailey isn’t patching cells on the electrophysiology rig, she’s out for a run in historic downtown Charleston or on the local trails. She’s an avid reader, competitive baker, crafting enthusiast, and loves spending time at the beach with her son and husband.
