Dr. Marta Garcia-Forn was born and raised in Spain. From 2015 to 2019 she performed his doctoral studies under the guidance of Dr. Esther Perez-Navarro at the University of Barcelona, where she studied the mechanisms underlying nuclear alterations in Huntington’s Disease and their possible role as biomarkers for the disease. After receiving her PhD, Dr. Garcia-Forn sought training in neurodevelopment and joined Dr. De Rubeis lab at the Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment at Mount Sinai, New York. As a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. De Rubeis lab, she is studying the developmental mechanisms underlying DDX3X syndrome, specifically focusing on the development of the cortex, with the aim of identifying novel therapeutics for this disease.
